Yes, it is the surface's grain that gives it quality. It's simple but the whole wrapper makes it look good.

I like it.

Like you say, it's only a simple planet, but the shading of the surface, and the peaks and curves of the surface all look pretty cool.

Beautiful choice of colours and awesome texturing with the planet. I love the yellow-to-almost-maroon transition with the planets shadowing. The simplicity really works with this picture. Beautiful work

The texture is quite nice. but the transition between day and night needs to be a bit more worked on. Because even though the texture still gives a faint sense of tridimensionality, that is lost twilight zone. Try tweaking the shadows a bit more next time ;)
